Yarn kits that fit every size.
Set up a pattern’s ball counts once. Customers choose their size and colours, and the kit goes through checkout as the real balls of yarn, priced per colour and taken from the same stock you sell loose.
| Slot | S | M | L |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main colour | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| Contrast colour | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| Mohair | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| Pattern | 1 | 1 | 1 |
One recipe per pattern. The customer picks the colour for each slot.
How it works
One kit product per pattern, with a variant for each size. Skein does the rest at checkout.
Write the recipe once
For each size, enter how many balls each colour slot needs, and add fixed items such as the printed pattern.
Customers choose
They pick a size and a colour for each slot from the yarns you already sell.
Checkout uses real yarn
The kit is split into the actual yarn variants, so orders, stock and shipping weight all line up with what you pack.
Built for how yarn shops work
Kits stay in step with the yarn products they draw from, without editing every kit by hand.
Add a colour in one place
Add a new colour to a yarn product, and every kit that uses that yarn offers it.
Prices per colour
Premium colours cost more inside the kit, exactly as they do when sold on their own.
One stock count
Kits and loose balls sell from the same inventory, so the stock count is always the real one.
Shipping by real weight
Orders carry the weight of the yarn inside the kit, so weight-based rates come out right.
In early development
Skein isn’t on the Shopify App Store yet. It supports one market and currency per store, the Online Store channel, and up to four yarns of 100 colours each per kit.
