Terms of service
Last updated
Skein is a Shopify app operated by 10X Studio (“we”). These terms apply to any store that installs Skein (“you”). Installing or using Skein means you accept them, together with our privacy policy.
The service
Skein lets you sell pattern kits by size: you set which yarns a kit uses and how many balls each size needs, shoppers choose their colours on the product page, and Shopify sells the kit as the real yarn at checkout. Skein runs only inside Shopify and depends on Shopify’s bundles, checkout and theme features. Kits sell in your online store, in your store’s currency.
Skein sets each kit size’s price from the yarns it uses and keeps it in step with your yarn prices. Check a kit on your store before you sell it, and keep your yarn products’ prices, stock and weights accurate: Skein uses them as they are in Shopify.
Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice, at the price shown when you choose the plan, after any free trial. You can change plan in Skein or stop paying by uninstalling the app. Kits you have already set up keep selling if your plan changes.
Data processing
For the personal data Skein handles for your store, you are the controller and we act as your processor. We:
- process it only to provide Skein to you, as these terms and your use of the app instruct, and not for advertising, profiling or sale;
- read only what Skein needs: your products, and, when you open the Kit orders page, your recent orders’ numbers, dates, items and fulfillment status. We do not read customers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers or addresses, and we do not store order data;
- use Shopify as the platform and a cloud hosting provider (Tencent Cloud) to run the app, and no other subprocessors. We will update these terms before adding one;
- protect data with encrypted connections, restricted access to our servers, and logs that record no request contents and hash store domains;
- delete everything we store for your store when you uninstall Skein or Shopify sends a data deletion request, and help you answer requests from your customers about their data;
- tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting your store’s data.
Availability and liability
We work to keep Skein available and correct, but it is provided as is, and Shopify features it relies on can change. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Skein in the three months before the claim.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and we will tell you in the app about changes that affect you. You can stop using Skein at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend a store that misuses the app.
